Person Centered Planning (PCP)

Learning logs...PCP...important to and important for...plans...health and safety...living descriptions...what's working and what's not working...morning rituals...

These are just some of the words and terms you will be hearing throughout NACL.

Help people get better lives, not just better plans...

The format NACL uses to capture information about the individuals we support and how they want to live their life is known as a Person Centered Plan.  Spending some time examining people's rituals, what's important to and for them, and what these all mean is Person Centered Thinking, the core principle of PCP.

NACL has adopted this philosophy for a few years now, and we are in the process of training all staff in Person Centered Thinking in partnership with Semiahmoo House Society.  We typically hold two days of training on an ongoing basis, so new employees will have the opportunity to attend.

"Training in Person Centered Planning is training in a way of thinking as much as it is a way of developing a plan".
(Michael W. Smull and Helen Sanderson, June 2005)

We are very excited to be creating a Person Centered Thinking culture at NACL.  For more information about this initiative, please contact our in-house trainer:
