NACL Housing - Home Sharing

Interested in sharing your home with someone with a developmental disability?

NACL has recently launched its new Home Sharing Program, where we match persons served with the right caregiver, in order to promote independence in a family setting.

Anyone interested in potentially becoming a Home Sharing Provider should pick up an information package from our Administration Office.  We'll then interview you so that we can match you with someone who will become part of your family.

The role of a home share provider is to offer safe care and support for the person in care, providing an accepting and inclusive environment.  They are responsible for the safety, health, and wedll-being of the person in care 24 hours a day.  They ensure that the persion in care has opportunities for personal and social development within the household, with their families, and in the broader community while focusing on optimizing independence, self-determination, and choice.

It is very important that we make the right "match" - we take time to get to know the home share provider and their family, as well as the person served and their family.  It is important that the wants, needs, and values of everyone are honoured and respected.

Once a person in care is matched with a home share provider, NACL continues to monitor the services provided, as well as to support, assist, train, and advise on matters such as personal care, health, conflicts, medication, and behaviour management.
