Nanaimo Association for Community Living

"People Working Together"

...since 1986

NACL offers respite care to caregivers in the community or through Community Living British Columbia referrals to provide short-term accommodations for people with health or behaviour needs.

NACL provides a safe environment and a high standard of care through trained staff.  Respite care enables caregivers to have people stay in a comfortable, appropriate setting.

NACL respite care services do not include community programming, transportation, or attending doctor's appointments with clients.

Length of Stays

There is a minimum of 3 days, to a maximum of 30 days.  Prior to a person's stay, an intake form must be completed.

Medical Needs

All staff have a minimum qualification of a long-term care certificate for those people with medical needs.

Respite Facilities and 24-Hour Care

Clients have their own personal room with bed, table, chair, and access to bathing facilities, laundry, etc.

Each person receives three nourishing home-cooked meals plus snacks each day, as per Canada's Food Guide.
