NACL definitely has some interesting stuff going on! This page will keep you updated on our most current events and projects.
CARF is Coming!
The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) will be back at NACL from June 15-17, 2026 for our eighth accreditation survey, and our first in-person audit since 2017. These surveys demonstrate our agency's commitment to high quality program and service standards in our sector.
We'll be welcoming four surveyors this time, including two from other places in BC and two from the US. Stay tuned for the results, and we'd also like to extend our congratulations to CARF on their 60th anniversary this year!
New Strategic Plan Approved for 2026-2031!
After several months of research and discussion (with thanks to all who provided their input), Board of Directors has now approved NACL's Strategic Plan for 2026-2031. Our next step is operationalizing the plan, so we'll be hard at work on that in the coming weeks…
The plan is linked on our Resources page and also via the graphic below.
May 2026 "What's Happening?" Bulletin Released!
For more in-depth details on what's going on at NACL, the latest issue of our “What's Happening?" Bulletin for May 2026 is available now - featuring a freshened-up look for our 40th year coming up!
You can see the latest two calendar years' worth of our newsletters at the top of our Resources page to catch up on all the goings-on at our agency.
The next issue will be released at the end of August. In the meantime, you can click on the image below to read the current one!
Internal CoR Audit Results are In!
We did it again! NACL completed its annual internal WorkSafeBC Certificate of Recognition audit at the end of February, which is a thorough agency-wide review of our commitment to health and safety standards. We do a formal review every three years, so this was the second of our two annual internal interim audits before we have external auditors return next year.
We're excited to announce (a few months later) that the BC Municipal Safety Association (BCMSA) has now officially certified our score of 98%! Thanks so much to all who help ensure health and safety is so effectively and deeply embedded into our organizational culture - we couldn't do it without you!
We Bought Another Farm!
We're excited to announce the purchase of our second farm, Empress Acres, which we took possession of as of late February 2026! This lovely expanse of 69 acres in Cassidy creates opportunities to expand on our successes from Evanmorr Acres Farm and enable for additional housing, events/agri-tourism (and therefore employment opportunities), animal husbandry, food distribution, and more!
Stay tuned for updates to come on this exciting journey!

NACL's 2025 AGM...
A big thank you to everyone who attended NACL's 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) via Zoom on Monday, September 22nd at 7:00 p.m. - it was another good turnout, with 34% of our members represented online or by proxy! We discussed the successes and challenges of the past year, reviewed our annual audited financial statements, elected our next year's Board of Directors, shared what we're looking forward to in the coming year, and more!
We'll keep all materials related to this year's AGM posted for most of the next year - you'll find them all here on our Resources page, or by clicking the graphic below to take you right to them.
Housing Application Form Now Live!
We're thrilled to report that we now have a Housing Application Form ready to fill out, so we can track interest and let people know of suitable dwellings that might become available through NACL. You'll find the link under the Outreach Services section of our Programs page - but you can also click here or the on graphic below to take you directly to the form!
We Bought a Farm!
Yes, you heard right - NACL has bought a farm! We've purchased a 52-acre property in South Wellington, which will help us meet our strategic objectives of housing, employment, and educational/community inclusion opportunities for the people we serve, as well as self-sustainability.
We took possession on September 1, 2023, undertook extensive renovations on the main house, and Evanmorr Acres was officially move-in ready in July 2024! We've done extensive work in the fields to have our first harvest and also brought in four natural weed-eaters (goats) as our farm's first official livestock!
Stay tuned for more to come as we continue this exciting journey! Here's a beautiful picture (taken by one of our Integrated Services Managers) from when we first purchased the property...

Uplands Housing Development
We're so excited about (and proud of!) our housing development at 3425 Uplands Drive. Finished in 2020, it has three buildings and a total of 28 townhouse units - 12 of which are housing persons served by NACL, and the remaining 16 occupied by working people with an appreciation for people with diversabilities, at 90% of market rent.
In partnership with Community Living BC (CLBC) and utilizing a thoughtful, person-centered approach, we are ensuring that a resource system with a focus on unpaid community supports is in place.
We are extremely thankful for the support of BC Housing with this project, along with John Jessup and Associates, dys Architecture, and Knappett Projects Inc.
Check out some of these interior and exterior shots, taken before people moved in - but still showing you the finished product!
