NACL definitely has some interesting stuff going on! This page will keep you updated on our most current events and projects.
We want to assure everyone associated with NACL that we are taking the situation very seriously regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), following the current directives of our federal and provincial government, funding bodies, and other relevant authorities.
We will also actively communicate our internal response to the pandemic on a regular basis. Attached below are formal communiques that have been released re COVID-19 so far:
Please note that only the most current versions of NACL's COVID-19 Exposure and Control Plan and Self-Assessment and Isolation Procedure for Paid LOA will be posted above.
Uplands Housing Development
We're so excited about (and proud of!) our new housing development at 3425 Uplands Drive. Now finished, it has three buildings and a total of 28 townhouse units - 12 of which are housing persons served by NACL, and the remaining 16 occupied by working people with an appreciation for people with diversabilities, at 90% of market rent.
In partnership with Community Living BC (CLBC) and utilizing a thoughtful, person-centered approach, we are ensuring that a resource system with a focus on unpaid community supports is in place.
We are extremely thankful for the support of BC Housing with this project, along with John Jessup and Associates, dys Architecture, and Knappett Projects Inc.
We've kept the launch of this housing community low-key in light of COVID-19, but we promise we'll do a grand opening when it's safer to do so. Stay tuned!
Check out some of our latest interior and exterior shots, taken before people moved in - but still showing you the finished product!

Our 35th Anniversary
Thursday, July 22, 2021 was a big day for us, because it marked NACL's 35th anniversary - something we're VERY proud of! Watch this space (as well as our social media) for information on how we celebrated/are continuing to celebrate this awesome milestone!
Please also make sure to check out NACL's Amazing Stories to get to know more about some of the wonderful people we serve and their fascinating lives! We'll be sharing more of these stories plus other cool things throughout this milestone year - stay tuned!
Rock for a Cause
NACL is thrilled to have partnered with our friends at the Nanaimo Child Development Centre to put on an epic rock concert, benefiting both of our charities! We've secured a new date, so please come ROCK FOR A CAUSE with us and see legendary 80's Canadian bands Headpins and Honeymoon Suite at the Port Theatre on Friday, March 4, 2022!
For more information or to get tickets that can be held for the future date (they're $75 each), here's the link to our event:
Rest assured if you bought tickets before, they'll still be honoured! We'll continue to update everyone as we get closer to that time, as things evolve re COVID-19. We're excited to do whatever we can to make this event happen - so, thank you for your support!
