NACL definitely has some interesting stuff going on!  This page will keep you updated on our most current events and projects.

CoR Recertified!

We're thrilled to announce that NACL received another 3-year WorkSafeBC Certificate of Recognition, having received a score of 96% on our external audit held in late February 2024!  While our formal review happens every three years, we also make sure to do a thorough review annually for the two years in between, just to make sure we're maintaining those standards!  CoR certification is all about NACL's ongoing commitment to health and safety.

If you're interested in reading the latest audit report and/or seeing our certificate, check them out here on our Resources page or click on the graphic below.

2023 AGM

NACL's 2023 AGM

What a great turnout!  Hugest thanks to everyone who came to NACL's 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held online on Monday, September 25th.  We had 46% of our members represented, and 41 people attending in total (the highest number in recent memory!) - what a great forum to review the amazing successes NACL has had over this past year while looking forward to exciting things moving forward!

If you'd like to review all the materials that were involved with this year's AGM - you'll find them here on our Resources page, or click on the graphic below.

Our New Farm

We Bought a Farm!

Yes, you heard right - NACL has bought a farm!  We've purchased a 52-acre property in South Wellington, which will help us meet our strategic objectives of housing, employment, and educational/community inclusion opportunities for the people we serve, as well as self-sustainability.

We took possession on September 1, 2023, and are now doing extensive renovations on the main house and secondary 2-bedroom cottage.

Stay tuned for more information as we embark on this exciting journey!  In the meantime, enjoy this beautiful picture (taken by one of our Integrated Services Managers) to give you a taste of what's to come...

NACL BBQ

The NACL BBQ Returned!

Thanks so much to everyone who came to and supported NACL's much-missed NACL BBQ, on July 28th, which was last held in 2019!  We enjoyed great food, entertainment...and best of all?  Your company!

Uplands Housing Development

Uplands Housing Development

We're so excited about (and proud of!) our housing development at 3425 Uplands Drive.  Now finished, it has three buildings and a total of 28 townhouse units - 12 of which are housing persons served by NACL, and the remaining 16 occupied by working people with an appreciation for people with diversabilities, at 90% of market rent.

In partnership with Community Living BC (CLBC) and utilizing a thoughtful, person-centered approach, we are ensuring that a resource system with a focus on unpaid community supports is in place.

We are extremely thankful for the support of BC Housing with this project, along with John Jessup and Associates, dys Architecture, and Knappett Projects Inc.

Check out some of these interior and exterior shots, taken before people moved in - but still showing you the finished product!

Our 35th Anniversary

Our 35th Anniversary

Thursday, July 22, 2021 was a big day for us, because it marked NACL's 35th anniversary - something we're VERY proud of!  Watch this space (as well as our social media) for information on how we celebrated this awesome milestone!

Please also make sure to check out NACL's Amazing Stories to get to know more about some of the wonderful people we serve and their fascinating lives!  We'll be sharing more cool things about our milestone year, as well - stay tuned!

In the meantime, make sure to check out the #NACL35 Reflections video posted on our homepage, which we debuted in October 2021 for Community Living Month - a 36-minute panel discussion reflecting on our sector's and organization's evolutions over the past 35 years, favourite moments and memories, and how NACL has impacted our panelists' lives!
